Massage Etiquette & FAQ

What happens during a Thai massage?

During your Thai massage, you'll begin by undressing to your underwear. Then, you'll cover yourself with the provided robe or sheet and lie face-down on the massage table. Your therapist will then enter the room and inquire if you have any specific areas you'd like to focus on, such as the legs or lower back. It's important to also mention any areas on your body you prefer not to be touched, for example, if you have a cut, sprain, or sore toe. If you need adjustments in pressure during the massage, feel free to request an increase or decrease. After the massage, the therapist will cleanse your body with a fresh set of warm, clean towels to remove any excess oil.

What is the difference between a Thai massage and a regular or relaxation massage?

Common massage types like relaxation massage, Swedish massage, oil massage, and full body massage are what most people think of when they think of a massage. These styles are associated with a soothing, flowing experience where the therapist uses massage oil and glides their hands over your body. In contrast, traditional Thai massage is more vigorous, involving stretching, pressure, and joint manipulation, almost like yoga while lying down. Unlike the others, traditional Thai massage doesn't necessarily require oil, although it can be used if needed.

Do you take bookings for groups?

We gladly welcome group bookings and have the capacity to accommodate up to 6 people simultaneously, with the option to accommodate more by splitting the group for sequential massages. A deposit is required for group bookings and can be conveniently paid in-store or online. For further details, please refer to our booking page or contact the shop directly to make a reservation.

Do you do pregnancy massage?

Due to the risk of miscarriage we do not provide pregnancy massage services. Pregnancy can be fairly risky with massage so we recommend you find a massage provider that is properly qualified to do it.

Should I undress completely for a Thai massage?

No, you undress but keep your underwear on. Women have the option to remove their bra if comfortable, or leave it on for more comfort. You can request a female therapist (approximately 90% of our staff are female). Complete nudity is not permitted. If you choose to remove your underwear and request a naked massage, the therapist may halt the session and request that you put your underwear back on before continuing. If you typically do not wear underwear, you can ask for disposable underwear for the session.
